Borussia Mönchengladbach full back Stefan Lainer had an assist in his first match since undergoing treatment following a lymphoma diagnosis in summer. Lainer, 30, set up the opening goal from Allassane Plea in a 3-2 victory over Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles during the Bundesliga winter break. Austrian Lainer played for 30 minutes in the match over 4×30 minutes which was a test ahead of their Bundesliga restart on January 14 against high-flying VfB Stuttgart.
