I can’t help but notice that many of the candidates in this General Election keep promising to fix potholes. For years, we have been told potholes are the sole responsibility of Nottinghamshire County Council. It is amazing how, now people need your votes, this contentious topic has suddenly become an issue that our future MPs can solve. Perhaps they could also pledge to stop all the motorsists turning right into and out of Asda off Portland Street, Newark. They have as much chance of making that happen too. — A. CHAMBERS, Newark.
