Newcastle United are due some big signings. Indeed, Newcastle endured such an underwhelming transfer window that club legend Alan Shearer slammed the club’s decision-makers for failing to back Eddie Howe. Clearly, the fact the club came close to a ten-point deduction for almost breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in June cannot be ignored. While it would have been nice to see Newcastle get a deal for Marc Guehi over the line, the financial restrictions in place must be adhered to, with Everton and Nottingham Forest both punished last season for breaking them.
