A doctor in Berlin was sentenced on Monday to three years in prison for helping a patient end her life. The Berlin Regional Court ruled the 37-year-old woman he helped to die was unable to make the decision of her own free will because she suffered from depression. The court found the doctor guilty of manslaughter because it was not convinced she was able to make a “completely rational decision.” The doctor had “exceeded the limits of what was permissible,” said judge Mark Sautter.
