Japan had a current account surplus of 744.3 billion yen ($5.0 billion) in December, the Finance Ministry said Thursday. In 2023, the country recorded a 20.63 trillion yen current account surplus, nearly double the level a year earlier. The current account balance is one of the widest gauges of international trade.
