European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen says she is “outraged by last night’s vile attacks targeting Israeli citizens in Amsterdam,” after pro-Palestinian demonstrators clashed with Israeli football fans following a match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax Amsterdam. “I strongly condemn these unacceptable acts,” von der Leyen wrote on social media platform X. “Antisemitism has absolutely no place in Europe. And we are determined to fight all forms of hatred.” The commission president said she had spoken with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof.
