German electoral authorities on Thursday said new elections to the country’s lower house, or Bundestag, can be organized at short notice following the collapse of Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s three-party coalition. A spokesman for the Federal Returning Officer said the usual procedures would apply as for any other election, with deadlines regulated by law.
