A new national law came into force in Australia on Monday, banning the Nazi salute and the sale of Nazi paraphernalia. “It is now unlawful to perform the Nazi salute in public or to publicly display, or trade in, Nazi hate symbols,” said a statement on the Attorney General Mark Dreyfuss’ website. “The new laws also ensure that glorifying and praising acts of terrorism are criminal offences under Commonwealth law,” the statement read.
