After a delayed launch, as well as numerous leaks and rumors, Apple has finally unveiled the next generation of iPad Pro and iPad Air tablets at the Let Loose event. The former has received significant updates compared to its predecessor and, presumably, to the 2018 iPad Pro models. Meanwhile, the 6th generation iPad Air replaces the two-year-old iPad Air 5th generation model that debuted in 2022. The latest offerings come with much-needed updates as well as a slightly new design. It is now available in a variant with a large 13-inch display alongside the standard 11-inch model. Read on to find out what the 6th generation iPad Air offers out of the box.

Along with the standard 11-inch variant, Apple is introducing a large 13-inch model of the 6th generation iPad Air for the first time. Both models are equipped with Liquid Retina IPS display. The 13-inch version has a resolution of 2732×2048 pixels and a peak brightness of 600 nits.

The 6th generation iPad Air retains the same overall design as its predecessor: a flat bezel, Touch ID button at the top, and volume keys on the right side. One of the noticeable changes is that the front camera sensor has now been moved to the right side, i.e. when the tablet is held horizontally. The stylus, called the Apple Pencil, is still magnetically attached to the right bezel of the tablet. The newest iPad Air will also be compatible with the recently announced Pencil Pro. It will also get the Pencil Hover feature, which was only available for Pro models.

The 6th generation iPad Air retains the same cameras as its predecessor. These are a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies. The former supports Smart HDR and 4K video recording.

Under the hood of the 6th generation iPad Air is the Apple M2 processor. It is 50 percent faster than the M1 Air. Both variants now start with a 128 GB storage configuration, which has been increased from the previous generation. The tablet supports connectivity to WiFi-6E and 5G networks.

The price of the 6th generation iPad Air starts at USD 599 for the 11-inch base model, while the 13-inch version starts at USD 799. The tablet is available in four colors: blue, purple, starlight and space gray. Pre-orders for the tablet start today, and sales will begin on May 15.
