A memorial service has been held to mark the 83rd anniversary of a factory bombing — and remember its 41 victims. Today (March 7) marks 83 years since bombs dropped on Newark’s Ransome and Marles factory during the second world war, and a service was held in Newark Cemetery at the time the bombs dropped. On March 7, 1941, at 1.40pm an enemy Heinkel dropped bombs in Newark — on both the Northern Road factory and on a nearby air raid shelter in Stanley Street.
