The number of Israeli soldiers killed during ground operations inside the Gaza Strip rose to 87 on Thursday. That is the highest number of army deaths in a military operation since the 2006 Lebanon War, when 121 soldiers were killed, according to the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF).
