Carbon dioxide emissions caused by private jets rose by 46% between 2019 and 2023, according to a study published by the Communications Earth & Environment journal on Thursday. The report said total emissions rose from 10.7 million tons to 15.6 million tons over the period, noting that private jets were frequently used for short trips that could easily be undertaken by car or rail instead.
