Rio 2016 champion Sharon van Rouwendaal of the Netherlands has claimed a second Olympic gold in the women’s 10-kilometre open water marathon with a win at the Paris Games on Thursday. The Dutch swam away from her competitors and was the first to complete the race on the Seine in 2 hours 03 minutes 34.2 seconds. Australia’s Moesha Johnson led for the bulk of the race and looked set to take gold. But van Rouwendaal fuelled up in the last feeding station and started her attack.
