A man who subjected his partner to “terrifying and cruel behaviour” in Bishop’s Stortford has been jailed for two-and-a-half years. Mark Cawthron, 46, attacked the woman, not realising she had installed a secret camera in a clock in their bedroom. It recorded him pinning her down, placing a pillow over her face for a minute and saying: “Just die and goodbye.” He also put his hand around her throat and returned to the room with a large kitchen knife which he used to stab the mattress next to her head.
