Chancellor Olaf Scholz is to make a government statement in the German Bundestag on Wednesday next week, dpa has learned, after the collapse of his three-party coalition. Scholz has announced a plan to hold a vote of confidence in January after he fired Christian Lindner as finance minister on Wednesday, causing Lindner’s Free Democrats (FDP) to withdraw from government.
