By Elena Kachkova in Johannesburg South Africa’s Department of Mineral Resource and Energy (DMRE) has announced the launch of the third bid window (BW3) of the Battery Energy Storage Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (BESIPPPP). The tender is for a total of 616 MW/2,464 MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity, the DMRE said in a press statement on April 2.
