An Israeli orchestra that is made up of an equal number of Arab and Jewish musicians has cancelled its concerts in Europe in response to growing tensions in the Middle East. Germany’s Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival announced on Thursday that a special concert by the Galilee Chamber Orchestra planned for Sunday in Neubrandenburg would not now take place. Concerts with violinist Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider as soloist which were to take place in Berlin and Amsterdam have also been cancelled.
