Barclays Bank has applied for planning permission to decommission its branch in North Street, Bishop’s Stortford. The last customers are set to be served on Friday, April 12, after closure plans were confirmed on January 12 this year. The decision was condemned by some customers and commentators concerned at the impact on the elderly or infirm who are not comfortable with internet banking or are unable to travel further afield to other branches.
