Ten people have died in a blaze in a home for the elderly in the Uruguayan city of Treinta y Tres, local media reported on Sunday, citing the Interior Ministry and the emergency services. The dead were all residents of the home. They died from smoke inhalation. Seven were found dead and three died later in hospital. A 20-year-old female employee was able to escape through a garage unharmed. The fire is reported to have broken out in the home’s living room. The cause remains unknown.
