The bulk of Newcastle United’s signings in the Saudi Arabian era have been younger players. For all of the talk that PIF’s takeover of the club would see a wide array of ready-made superstars pitch up at Newcastle, it hasn’t really played out that way. Indeed, good players have obviously been signed and a huge amount of money has been spent but the recruitment has broadly been of younger players yet to become household names. Bruno Guimaraes, Sven Botman, Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon, Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento and Sandro Tonali were all in their early-to-mid-twenties or younger, after all….
