Alabama distance runner Doris Lemngole closed the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships as the national champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase behind a record-setting performance to become the Crimson Tide’s first champion in the event in school history. Pulling away from the field on the final two laps, Lemngole ran a lifetime-best 9:15.24 to give the West Pokot County, Kenya, native the collegiate record, the meet record and the school record.
