Pakistani lawmakers are set to elect the country’s new president on Saturday in a contest between the ruling party of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the opposition led by the party of jailed leader Imran Khan. Two candidates are officially running for the presidential election in which more than 1,000 lawmakers in the national parliament and provincial legislatures are scheduled to vote from 10 am to 4 pm (0500-1100 GMT).
