Motorola is preparing to launch a new high-end smartphone in China. It will be the Motorola X50 Ultra, which is expected to be a rebranded version of the Edge 50 Ultra recently launched in Europe. But the official teaser confirmed the release date of the X50 Ultra for the Chinese market.
Launch of Motorola X50 Ultra in China
As a reminder, the Edge 50 series is approaching its global release, consisting of Edge 50 Pro, Edge 50 Fusion and Edge 50 Ultra. The Edge 50 Fusion is scheduled to launch next week, while the other two smartphones have already been released in some markets. And now, the Chinese version, dubbed the Motorola X50 Ultra, will also debut on May 16.
Looking at the teaser, we see the device in Biege color. But since the Edge 50 Ultra also comes in black and peach colors, we can expect the Chinese release to be presented in those colors as well. Since this is a rebranding of the Edge 50 Ultra, the specifications are likely to be similar between the two models. For example, the X50 Ultra may have a 6.67-inch POLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2500 nits.
It is expected to feature a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The device is likely to run Android 14 out of the box. For photography, a triple 50-megapixel camera can be installed on the rear panel, and a 50-megapixel selfie camera on the front. A 4500 mAh battery can power the device with support for wired 125-watt and wireless 50-watt fast charging.
