US aluminium producer Alcoa Corp has announced a plan to drastically cut production at one of its refineries in Western Australia to cut costs. The company said the determination to curtail the 60-year-old Kwinana Alumina Refinery is based on a variety of factors, including its age, scale, operating costs and current bauxite grades, in addition to current market conditions.
