Tokyo stocks opened in the positive Tuesday with the Nikkei index hitting a new all-time high, as investors bought semiconductor and other technology shares after gains in their U.S. counterparts overnight. In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 294.39 points, or 0.72 percent, from Monday to 41,075.09. The broader Topix index was up 9.68 points, or 0.34 percent, at 2,877.29. On the top-tier Prime Market, gainers were led by electric appliance, nonferrous metal and chemical issues.
