A 10-year-old girl went under in the Elbe River in the northern German city of Hamburg on Thursday afternoon right in front of her parents. Rescue teams were continuing to search for the child in the evening with a large-scale operation. “We are not giving up hope,” a fire brigade spokesman told dpa.
