A MAN is to go on trial accused of attacking police. Oliver Mace appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, January 23. The 24-year-old, of Dickens Walk, Newbury, is accused of assaulting a police officer on duty in The Wharf, Newbury, on New Year’s Day. Mr Mace, who was legally represented by Adonis Daniel at the hearing, spoke only to confirm his details and to plead not guilty to the single charge. He was told the case could proceed no further that day and that it would be adjourned for a trial to be arranged. Mr Mace was meanwhile released on unconditional bail.
