On Memorial Day weekend in 2006, Kimberly Harris was home with her 17-year-old son when she said she heard a barrage of gunfire nearby. The shooting at West 85th and South Honore streets left one person dead. Though she didn’t know it at the time, the act of violence would also alter the course of her life and that of her teenage son.
