At least 45 people were killed and 60 wounded in fighting between rival clans in central Somalia on Saturday, according to a regional police officer. “More than 45 people, all from the warring inter-clan militias from Marehan and Dir were killed in today’s clashes, the worst in the Galgadud province in many years,” Ahmed Sahal, a regional police officer, told dpa by phone.
