The Netherlands ended a 24-year gold medal drought in men’s field hockey when they beat long time rivals and world champions Germany 3-1 in a penalty shoot-out on Thursday. Captain Thierry Brinkman, Thijs van Dam and Duco Telgenkamp converted from the spot, while only Justus Weigand scored for Germany under the eyes of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
