Grand Theft Auto (GTA) fans are hungry for news, and the latest signs indicate that Rockstar Games may soon satisfy their hunger.
Five months have passed since the first GTA 6 trailer broke YouTube records. The sequel returns players to the bustling city of Vice City, located in the fictional state of Leonidas (based on Florida). The trailer demonstrated stunning graphics, an expansive open world, and the game’s two main characters, Lucia and Jason.
This is what is fueling the rumors:
- Rockstar Games API update: A special Twitter bot created by fans follows the news about GTA 6 via the Rockstar API. Recently, the bot discovered four new links that hint at potential content: new screenshots of the game and possibly key artwork/covers. Clicking on these links currently leads to a dead end (404 error). What does this mean? It means that the content has not yet been uploaded.
- Cleaning up Rockstar’s social networks: IT House notes that Rockstar has recently deleted most of its Instagram content, leaving only posts related to the latest DLC for GTA Online, GTA+, music labels, and minor posts. Interestingly, this is very similar to their actions before the release of the first trailer.
Coupled with the fact that Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two, held an earnings conference call on May 16, all signs point to the imminent release of GTA 6. Leaks suggest that new screenshots and a cover artwork may appear within the next week.
Although the official release is scheduled for 2025, fans can be grateful that they have the opportunity to get to know GTA 6 in the near future.
