German chemicals giant BASF plans to sell its shares in two joint ventures in China following reports of possible human rights violations at the plants, the company announced on Friday. There have previously been allegations that employees of a Chinese partner company of BASF at the plants in China’s Xinjiang region had been involved in government efforts to repress the Muslim Uyghur minority.
