Latvia is to extend the enhanced protection of its border with neighbouring Belarus until the end of the year for security reasons. The government of the Baltic EU and NATO country announced the move in Riga on Tuesday, saying it was in response to the continuing disproportionately high number of attempted illegal border crossings from Belarus.
