Three people were injured in an explosion and fire late on Saturday in an apartment building in the western German city of Essen. A woman jumped out of a window to save herself, a fire department spokesman said without specifying which floor the person jumped from. When the fire department arrived, the woman was lying in the street seriously injured before being taken to hospital with burns.
