A new synagogue has opened in Magdeburg in eastern Germany on Sunday, some 85 years after it was destroyed in a pogrom. “The new synagogue stands for peaceful coexistence and pluralism,” said Saxony-Anhalt’s state premier Reiner Haseloff at a ceremony on Sunday.
