St Pauli Hamburg suffered a first league defeat in 11 months when they were beaten 1-0 in Magdeburg in the German second division on Saturday. Baris Atik clinched Magdeburg’s first ever victory against St Pauli in the 72nd minute after a mistake by St Pauli goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj. St Pauli had gone unbeaten in 25 league matches since a 4-3 defeat last season at SV Hamburg on April 21, 2023. They didn’t lose in the final five games of that campaign and the first 20 of the current season. St Pauli top the second tier five points ahead of their crosstown rivals.
