Thoothukudi (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 9 (ANI): The fishermen community and the villagers in Tharuvaikulam of Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi district staged a one-day hunger strike on Monday demanding the release of fishermen “arrested” by the Sri Lankan Navy. The protestors are expected to meet the Tamil Nadu Governor tomorrow in this regard. The shops in the area also remained closed for the day as a mark of protest.
