Thousands of pro-European demonstrators have protested in Tbilisi against the Georgian government’s plans to reintroduce legislation aimed at curbing foreign-funded non-governmental organizations. A local spokesman told dpa some 10,000 people took part in the demonstration. Under the new law, which the ruling Georgian Dream party is trying to introduce, all non-governmental organizations (NGO) that receive more than 20% of their funding from abroad would have to make an annual declaration.
