A mayor is leading the way in a new initiative to try to attract more people into his town’s centre. Councillor Gary Christy, who was sworn in as Mayor of March in May, has organised a special event aimed at bringing more visitors to the town. The ‘Mayor’s Minis in Market Place’ event is set to take place on Sunday, August 18 from 10am to 3pm and will see 25 of the iconic cars on display. It will not only hopefully attract people into the town centre, which is undergoing a major-multi-million pound revamp, but will also celebrate the 65th anniversary of the classic car.
