Police are alleged to have been headbutted, kicked and punched, with one said to have been bitten on the hand as a man was being arrested. Charges have been brought against a 21-year-old man who is accused of assaulting several officers who were called to a disturbance in Hawkhurst on July 4. The suspect was found in an outbuilding off Woodbury Road, Hawkhurst. It is alleged as the man was being arrested, a constable was punched in the face.
