Former world number one Angelique Kerber reached the last 16 of the Italian Open thanks to a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) win against Aliaksandra Sasnovich in Rome on Saturday. Kerber seamlessly followed on from strong performances in the first round against American Lauren Davis (6-1, 6-0) and in the second round against Veronika Kudermetova (6-3, 6-0).
