Apple has introduced the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, which feature a significant leap in performance, camera capabilities, and a new intelligent system called Apple Intelligence.
Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence is a personal intelligence system that uses generative models created by Apple to understand and create speech and images, perform actions in various applications, and personalize the user experience. It offers the following features:
- System-wide writing tools to improve your writing and proofreading.
- Prioritized notifications and short email messages for faster access to information.
- Updated Siri with enhanced speech understanding and the ability to switch between text and voice commands.
- An image playground (coming later) for creating fun images with descriptions.
- Create personalized emojis (Genmoji) and built-in intelligence for future features.
Apple Intelligence is available as a free software update with the first set of features to be launched in beta next month. Initially available in English in the US, it will be available in other languages and platforms next year.
Rugged design
Durable and lightweight titanium body with the latest generation of ceramic screen provides enhanced durability. New architecture improves heat dissipation for better, more stable performance.
The iPhone 16 Pro boasts a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max has a massive 6.9-inch display – the largest in iPhone history. Both models use Super Retina XDR technology with Always-On and ProMotion.

New hardware and software integration provides quick access to camera functions, photo and video capture, and zoom and exposure settings using a tactile switch, force sensor, and capacitive sensor.

- Up to 20% faster 6-core GPU for stunning graphics.
- Up to 2x faster hardware ray tracing acceleration for realistic lighting effects.
- Faster USB 3 speeds and ProRes video recording.
The new series launches with iOS 18, which will be available as a free update on Monday, September 16.
Improved communication and security
Emergency SOS via satellite allows you to send and receive text messages, emojis, and tapbacks in areas without cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. It is currently available in some regions.
Emergency SOS Live Video allows you to share videos or photos with emergency dispatchers during an emergency call. It will be available with iOS 18.
Satellite roadside assistance will expand to new regions in the fall.
Price and availability
Pre-orders will be accepted from Friday, September 13, and available from Friday, September 20.
The smartphones are available in black, natural, white, and desert titanium.
The price starts from USD 999 for the iPhone 16 Pro and from USD 1199 for the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
