A fresh leak suggests that Samsung is ditching the familiar bean-shaped design for its upcoming Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. This could be the biggest design change for wireless headphones since their introduction.
Evan Blass (@evleaks), a well-known tech leaker, posted a veiled image that hints at the new design. The silhouette resembles Apple’s AirPods with an elongated leg.
This design choice could offer several benefits, including improved call quality since the microphone is likely to sit closer to the user’s mouth. However, it also means that Samsung is moving away from the unique style it introduced in 2020.
The leak coincides with previous reports that Samsung is moving to a stem-shaped headphone design. The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro is also rumored to have deep integration with Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite, possibly including features such as on-the-fly language translation. Improved active noise cancellation (ANC) is also expected.
The move to a “footprint” design means that Samsung will be able to accommodate a larger battery and audio components will have more room to play.
Samsung will release a non-Pro Galaxy Buds model alongside the Pro version. Both models are rumored to be unveiled on July 10, along with the next-generation Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 phones.
The event is also likely to see the launch of the new Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra smartwatches based on Wear OS. In addition, Samsung is expanding its portfolio of wearables by introducing the Galaxy Ring. We will have to wait for the official announcement to get a clearer picture of the design, features, and performance of Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.
