The far-right Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), which is critical of the European Union, has been confirmed the winner of the European elections in the Alpine nation with 25.4% of the vote. According to the final result, which was available after all postal votes were counted on Monday, the conservative Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP), which holds the chancellorship, came in a close second with 24.5%.
