Two people have died trying to cross the English Channel in a small boat. The incident happened between Calais and Dunkirk, in France early this morning, the Home Office has confirmed. It is understood the French authorities are leading the investigation and those rescued were returned to France on French vessels. About 50 passengers in the vessel were rescued from the same small boat as the pair who died, according to the BBC.
