The northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona came under heavy fire from Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon on Friday evening. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said 15 of around 35 rockets were intercepted, with the remaining projectiles hitting the city or open areas. Buildings and vehicles were damaged. No one was injured or killed, due largely to the fact that most residents left after the start of the Gaza war in October last year. Some of the strikes triggered wildfires when they exploded.
