Ireneusz Fafara is take over at the head of Poland’s Orlen oil refiner and fuel retailer with immediate effect, replacing Daniel Obajtek, who was pushed out at the start of the year. The company, in which the Polish state has a large stake, made the announcement late on Wednesday. Obajtek was seen as owing his appointment to Jarosław Kaczyński, the head of the national conservative PiS party which ruled Poland until the autumn of last year.
