An annual event that has enjoyed more than 40 years of success is starting a new chapter in a fresh home this year. The Maplebeck Village Fete is to return for its 44th year on Saturday (June 22), moving away from the original organiser’s garden onto the village green and hall. From 2.30pm until 5pm, the event will feature tea on the terrace, children’s games — such as sack races and an egg and spoon race — a plant stall, homemade ice cream and a performance by the area’s Morris Men.
