SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is currently assisting the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) with a fatal traffic crash involving a Sheriff’s deputy and a bicyclist at the intersection of South Tamiami Trail and Bay Street. At approximately 11:38 p.m. Thursday, an on-duty SCSO deputy struck a female bicyclist at the intersection of East Bay Street and North Tamiami Trail in Osprey.
