While Xiaomi has been busy launching new devices in 2024, including its first POCO tablet, there have been no official reports of a new wearable successor to the Smart Band 8 and Smart Band 8 Pro. However, a recent leak suggests that a Smart Band 9 may well be in the works with several iterative improvements over its predecessor.

Visually, the leak suggests that the Smart Band 9 won’t stray far from the design of the Smart Band 8, which itself was very similar to the Smart Band 7. It is expected to retain the familiar oval form factor and 1.62-inch display.

According to rumors, the dimensions will be slightly smaller than the Band 8 – 46.53 x 21.63 x 10.95 mm. The leak, however, hints at a possible material upgrade to a sandblasted aluminum alloy body for a more premium look.

The display itself could see a noticeable improvement in brightness. Although the refresh rate is expected to remain at 60 Hz, the peak brightness is rumored to reach 1200 nits, which is twice as much as the Smart Band 8.

Battery life is also said to get a slight boost. The leak indicates a 233 mAh battery, which is a 43 mAh increase over the Band 8. According to rumors, this means 9 days of battery life with the display always on or 21 days with it off.

Other improvements to the Smart Band 9 include a 10% improvement in the accuracy of the heart rate and SpO2 sensors, as well as a switch to Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.

It is important to note that the leak does not contain information about the possible release date or price of the Smart Band 9. So we will have to wait for further leaks or official announcements to find out more details about the Xiaomi Smart Band 9.
